The Barn at Joy Creek was built from a childhood dream and a soul deep love of horses. Our goal is simple-make horses and horsemanship accessible and meaningful to all that want to experience it. We do this by supporting people of all ages and abilities as they grow, learn, and gain confidence as horse people. We foster a safe, welcoming community rooted in respect, encouragement, and care- for both horses and humans.
I hope that you'll join us at The Barn at Joy Creek!

Happy Trails- Kate
The three photos above hold memories of the most influential parts of The Barn at Joy Creek. On the left is Lena, the horse that raised me. For 20 years Lena carried me. She taught me all I know and she is the foundation of why I am the horse person that I am. The middle photo is Josh. When I met Josh in the 9th grade, I wanted to be a Vet- but he changed my life. I worked with Josh as a peer support aide for 4 years in High School; he is the reason I became a teacher and then went into the developmental disabilities support field. The Barn at Joy Creek is 100% inclusive in all we do and that is because of influences like Josh. The photo on the right is of myself, my son, and my late grandfather. We lost him in 2024 to suicide. I never understood mental health and suicide- honestly I thought it was attention seeking behavior. Then I lost him and my entire family changed. I now know the toll mental health issues can take on folks and their families and I think using horses to help support healthy coping is a fantastic thing.
